A B O U T

John Paulo Tria was born in Manila Philippines in 1989. In 2015, he began to study painting as a self-taught artist, he deepened his research on ancient paintings, from the early sixteenth century to the late nineteenth century; in particular, he devoted himself to Bouguereau and academic painting  ( Caravaggio, Reni, Cot, Subleyras, Rubens, Falero, Baader , Vinci, Bonnat, Cave, Bellanger, Lefebvre, Gérôme, Ingres, Gérard, Delaroche, David, Schendel, Munier, Faivrec, Girodet, Gericault, Gleyre, Moreau, Redon, Rops, Godward and others).

He paints in defiance of his own era without the protection of the era's superstructure. His paintings carries markers of his inner life.

Paulo suffered from depression for a long time which leads to multiple suicide attempts. He is a suicide survivor and now doing well with the guidance of her lovely wife and family. This event taught him to be near God. “If I’d never dealt with this stuff, I wouldn’t be the person I am today and I wouldn’t have figured out who I am or the person I want to be.” Paulo said.
